Education

Fostering Hope and ETV

Alabama’s Fostering Hope Scholarship is a state-funded investment in the college education and training goals of youth who were in the foster care system when they earned their high school diploma or GED (General Education Development) certificate. This program covers tuition and required fees of postsecondary certificate or degree programs.

Alabama’s Education and Training Voucher is a federally funded program designed to help eligible youth who turn 18 while in the foster care system. This program provides up to $5,000 per year for qualified school-related expenses on a first-come, first-served basis to eligible students.

Both programs are extended to those who are part of the state’s kinship-guardianship program. For more information, review the handout below.

Regions is awarding four $8,000 scholarships through each Quarterly Contest.

Hope Scholarship

In 2015, Comfort Cases began awarding scholarships to support youth in foster care attending college or trade school. For the 2024-2025 school year, supporters of the Comfort Cases Scholarship Program provide financial assistance to graduating high school seniors or current college students enrolled in an accredited undergraduate program or trade school program in the Fall of 2024. Education opens doors to better opportunities, and every child deserves the chance for a bright future.
